“I've trained at a few gyms over the years. The coaching here is another level: structured, patient, and brilliant with complete beginners.”[Member name] · Google review
New to Jiu-Jitsu?
Here's what your first few weeks on the mats actually look like.
- No striking: BJJ is grappling. You learn to control a situation, not trade punches.
- Technique beats size. It's the martial art built for normal people, not athletes.
- A real workout. Every class trains your whole body and never feels like a treadmill.
- The skills are real. You practise against resisting partners, safely, from early on.
- Beginners train with beginners. Nobody gets thrown in at the deep end.
- As much chess as sport. People stay for the problem-solving as much as the fitness.

What our members say

“As a total beginner I was nervous, but everyone was welcoming. Three months in and I'm hooked.”
Questions, answered
Will I get hurt?
It's the first thing most people worry about. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has no striking, so nobody is throwing punches. Beginners drill techniques slowly with a partner, and you won't spar in your first weeks. You go at your own pace, and if you have an old injury, tell your coach and we train around it.
Do I have to spar or compete?
No, and you never have to unless you want to. The challenge is about learning the fundamentals in a controlled, friendly setting. Plenty of members train for years and never once compete.
Am I too old or unfit to start?
Almost certainly not. Most of our beginners are in their 30s, 40s and 50s, and most arrived unfit. The challenge builds your fitness from wherever you are now, at your own pace, from day one.
What if I don't enjoy it?
Then you've lost nothing. The trial session is free, and the challenge comes with a money-back guarantee. No contract, nothing to cancel: the only risk is spending one session finding out.
How much does it cost?
Your trial session is free. The 6-Week Beginner Challenge is £349 one-time, with everything included: all twelve sessions, your uniform, and the money-back guarantee.
But you're free to do nothing
Next year looks exactly like this one. Or take the free session: it costs nothing, and one class is all it takes to know.
